My post yesterday that included the funny vintage graphics got me thinking of women back in the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. I know I wasn't even "thought of" back then but I love to look at old pictures of women, all dressed up with their hair done up and pretty make-up on. It made me think a lot of my grandma; who I miss SO MUCH!! She always took such good care of herself. She always had her hair fixed and make-up on even if she was going to sit at home all day long. Her and I used to laugh that I got my "make-up obsession" from her. I am very particular about my make-up! I rarely leave the house with out something on, especially on my eyes. I look like a dead dog without any eye make-up on!! LOL Maybe one of these days, I'll get brave enough to do a before make-up and after photo of myself, just maybe!! I always tease Brian that I have to put on my "pretty face"- a.k.a. my make-up! I really do not feel like I look the same without it. SO... anyway I came across a site that showed vintage/mod dresses and fell in love with a couple of them. I love dresses but since I have had children, I feel like I cannot wear them:( My figure is very PEAR shaped now and I have gotten sooo many yucky spider and vericose veins on my legs too. YUCK! So I don't feel very "pretty" in a dress:( BOO-HOO! A sweet little black dress is usually always flattering though. I thought the one above was very cute and simple!!

This blue is very pretty! I don't usually go for blue, probably because I am surrounded by boys in my home, lol!!

Now this one would be my pick probably for the most flattering for my mommy body. Black, of course but the vertical stripes would elongate my body! Maybe? Where is Stacey London and Clinton Kelly from TLC's "What Not to Wear" when you need them?? LOL:)

I really love this one, but it'd have to be a lot longer!! Can't do the short dresses anymore with these thighs! Oh, the joys that motherhood brings to your body!! LOL My little monster boys were so worth it though! I wouldn't trade them for the nicest pair of legs in the world... or would I?? Hmmm... JUST KIDDING!
Is it just me or are there more and more "unclassy" dressed gals in the world today? I am so tired of seeing HUGE Boobs busting out of the tops of shirts, thong underwear hanging out when they bend over... and so on. This examples are of 2 gals I saw today while I was at my college. Honestly, they are leaving NOTHING to the male imagination!! When I had a nice body (pre-children), I used to show it off but I don't ever recall breaking out the "girls" or my undies for a free show!! LOL Sorry, I am in a silly mood tonite; just being a tad bratty so I hope this all doesn't offend anyone. Maybe I'm jealous? Naaaaah, no one would want to see my mommy undies anyway!!! Hope I got you all to chuckle a bit tonite!!
Love ya,
Noelle ♥

Well here you are, I was wondering when you were going to show up to the party!
I love your comments on the make-up. I am so the opposite, I was all in a panic when I was in that wedding cause I had to figure out how I was going to get some on and make it look good. I ended up paying to have it done, and it was such a relief!
I don't wear make-up, which to me mean foundation or powder and eyeshadow except for maybe once or twice a year. Although I do put on lipstick from time to time and am a big fan of lip gloss and balms.
The dresses you found are cute, and I really like the black striped one too. But for some reason I think it'd look horrid on me. I have an apple shaped body.
I won't leave the house without having "put on my face" either! lol I don't wear much makeup but I do need mascara because my eyelashes are so blond, they're invisible! Also put a bit of blush and lipstick. Only then am I ready to go out!!! hehe
Love all those dresses, now wish I had the shape to fit into all of them! lol The funny thing is, I have a small butt and thighs but I have big boobs and a thick waist so I always have trouble finding something that fits properly!!
I know what you mean about the way some women dress....I really don't want to see their "girls" or what colour thongs they're wearing!! PUH-LEEZEEEEE! Whatever happened to leaving a bit to the imagination?! Now if you're talking about a man...well....hehe! xoxo
Oh, fun! Girl talk!!! ☺
Mommy undies! Ha-ha!
Ya know the last 2 times I bought "every day" mommy undies, they were too small. Hmmm... what's going on here? ☺ Time for a reality check??!!!
Well, Noelle, my husband WORKS at a college! Ack! ☺ He has such a good attitude about the scanitly clad girls, though. He knows that most of them are just looking for acceptence and love and they just don't know the right way to get it. He feels sorry for them.
Concerning dresses, with me being so tall, it's hard for me to find a dress that fits right so I go with skirts. And my legs? Ug! So veiny! My skirts have to be LONG. I have those lARGE roping veins that children stare at in horror!!! :< I plan on having $urgery on my legs one of these day$ but until then- no one sees my legs without candle light or hose!
Make up? I actually went about 10 years without using any and when I started again, nothing worked right anymore! I would love to have someone help me pick out the right foundation. It either looks too light or too dark to me. I don't know how many bottles I have bought! This time of year is the hardest. I've got the eye thing down but the skin tone? forget it! Skin tone changes with age and I guess I haven't figured out how to change with it! I also had to change my lip color. I always went with darker colors before (darker hair/ darker lips) but they look too harsh now so now I only use pinks.
Well, you didn't mention hair Noelle! ☺

O.K. I should be offened or amused that you refer to my mama as your make=up inspiration! Huh! Guess you never thought of the make-up you played with at home "YOUR OWN MOMs"!!! LOL Its funny but its only been in the last few years I'll take a day off if I'm not leaving and put nothing on. Facially that is. I was always told when you leave the house have something on your face and have your hair fixed and that came direct not from Nanny's mouth but what I visually saw. Bet she has Sue inheaven do her hair now, remember that thin Sue Jones? Love,Mom
