Seeking advice...

I went to the gyno doctor yesterday because of my many female issues lately. I have had a lot of pain down below my belly button, lower back pain, nausea, swelling and an 8 pound weight gain in the past 2 weeks. My belly is SO huge and bloated! The dr. found out that I have a cyst on my right ovary, which is draining; she says this is what is causing my pain. I also have a small fibroid in my uterus which she said is "nothing to worry about". If neither of these two issues are "nothing of concern" at this point, then why do I have so much pain and feel so sick?

I am really irritated with this dr. for numerous reasons and have chosen to seek out a new gyno; who I am seeing on May 13th. I am considering calling the office on Monday to see if I can get in sooner because I feel so bad! My current doctor offered no help/alternative as to why I am experiencing this bloating, water retension and weight gain... other than "It may be due to the cyst." It MAY be??? What is that? I feel like she doesn't take me seriously. I know how I feel right now and I feel terrible!! It hurts me to sit upright!! I don't want to feel this way.

This dr. makes me feel like all my problems would go away if I would "just lose weight"! I'm sure it would help a lot of things but she doesn't understand that I have been overweight since 2001 and its NOT easy to all of a sudden change your eating habits over night and exercise daily! Its going to be a process and the weight probably won't fly off "just like that"!!

If anyone has dealt with cysts or any of these issues, please offer up any advice that you can!! I'd appreciate it so much:)

I am so sorry to hear about your problems with your doctor! The doctor patient relationship is so important and I can't believe she didn't at least offer some kind of suggestions. Losing weight seems to be the cure all for a lot of problems and I'm sure there's a good reason for that. But even if you started on a strict regiment immediately, these things take time. You certainly wouldn't see a change overnight, and there should be something you can do in the meantime. I think you are absolutely right to search out a new one, and I think you should call that office now. Maybe you can at least talk with a nurse who might relay a message from the doctor or be able to give you more meaningful advice than your former doctor. This probably isn't too comforting, but at least you KNOW the source of your discomfort and don't have to go on wondering about the unknown!
Hugs!!!

Get to a new doctor now! I am sorry, but your doctor sucks! Why does she think it is just a cyst. Did she do tests? Most females doctors I have been to have been unsympathic. Don't get me wrong, I have been to a few crappy guy doctors.

I don't trust your old doctor, see if you can get in sooner with your new one. Tell him or her you have concerns.

Wow, we are too much alike. I started fealing nauseas monday and couldnt sleep all night. I was hurting very bad on my lower right side. I figured it was a cyst, seeing as how I had had them at that same location before and had to have surgery for it. Well it kept hurting and pretty much was bending me double so I went to the doctor yesterday and they said I had a cyst that was draining and the fluids were not leacing my pelvic area. It's a bunch of crap that this can hurt so bad. I feel your pain and I am most def with you.

Did you have to have that not so nice ultrasound?

I haven't had to deal with any of that *knock on wood* but I would definitely be getting a new doctor and demanding answers/solutions. Yes, losing weight is probably going to help but it's not going to my the cyst disappear.

Good luck, I hope it all goes well!

Oh ma=mas poor girl! You are far to young to have health crap! And it IS NOT THE weight! It is fluid retention from SOMETHING!!You know I never got my MD but I've never been wrong have I? Watch the sodium and get some water into. Try cranberry and lemonade to help cleanse you too! We both need to see the natural approach lady on 31! Hey, get to Brenda's blog and read! Love,MOM

I am so sorry that your having issues with your docter. I have something called PCOS, which is Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome...I am not sure if that is something you have or not but maybe look into it...Alot of what you are describing is how I found out that I had it, but the weird thing is that they have never found any cysts!

Poor sweetie! I had a cyst burst once- or at least that's what my midwife thought it was. I was in excruciating pain and couldn't move. Pretty scary!

There are soooo many organs in our gut and they all sort of touch each other so there is a lot of guessing that goes on. Even with an ultra sound it can be iffy.

Noelle, I stay away from medical Drs. as much as I can. I always go the natural route first, do my own research and use herbs, vitamins and other natural means of healing. I know everyone is not comfortable with that but medical Drs. have just never been that much help for my family unless it's a broken bone or internal injuries.

what ever you decide to you, I'm with you and praying for you. The Lord will provide the answer! ♥

When you can't get the answers from a doctor, then it's time to seek another one! I'm glad you're going to go see another gyno and hopefully this one will be more thorough and give you some answers. As you say, you're not in pain like that because of weight gain, and anyway, it's not normal to gain that much weight so quickly. Something is definitely going on. There's no reason you should be suffering like this and not getting any relief. xoxo
