So awhile back, my mom and I went to a bridal show where I won a 30 minute horse-drawn carriage ride for Brian and I!! I haven't called the people who do this to set up a time to use it yet because we both have been so busy. The husband and wife that do these carriage rides contacted me with a SPECIAL OFFER for our WEDDING DAY!
I almost fell off my seat when I read what they offered!! Brian and I have been going back and forth about me not wanting to spend a ton of money on a limo SUV to fit our whole bridal party (us, 10 adults and 2 children!!); Brian said that people expect that when they are in a wedding. I said its NOT necessary and we are required to have a limo to transport us. Its just not practical for our "scenario"; we have 2 kids together who are going to be a HUGE part of our wedding day; so I didn't think that we needed to ride around town in a limo, supporting the stupid tradition of everyone getting drunk in the limo!! We are 30 years old, not 22!! LOL
So I have 2 options to choose from for our wedding day; which I want to remain a surprise!! I just need to sit down and figure out how we can work this into our day; with the ceremony, pics after, then we are doing the receiving line at the reception hall before the reception starts!! WHEW!! Leave it to me to plan ANOTHER busy day, hahaha!!
Isn't the carriage lovely? They also give you a velvet blanket to cover up with if its cold:) We could be all snuggly; that is if Brian decides to be romantic for once in his life on that day!!!

FYI: We didn't do a receiving line, we just made a stop at each table to greet our guests. That worked out really well!

and btw, I'm with you...a limo for all those people is NOT necessary. We skipped the limo all together since our ceremony/reception was in the same place.
Noelle, that seems like such a wonderful idea! I like it so much better than the limo idea. I know that norms vary be region but I really don't think that you "have" to get a limo for the wedding party. If it isn't something you can afford, I say don't do it! (And in response to the "we're not 22" comment, We were 23 and 21 when we got married and we didn't do it either! :) )
I really hope he will decide to be romantic since it will be your WEDDING DAY!

I would love a ride in a carriage - so romantic snuggled under a cover if it`s too cold !!
It`s both your day - so choose what you both want - not what others expect , they`re there to help celebrate with you - and you not foot the bill for just some fancy transport - ok - that`s my 2 cents worth on that ;o)
